Roy George is a native Dominican and a long-time boatman on the Indian River — an expert in local animal and plant life, in the cuisine of these islands, and bilingual in English and French. Together with his son, he welcomes visitors to experience the fullness of what the Nature Island has to offer.

Drift through cathedral-like mangrove channels on a hand-built wooden boat, with Roy at the oars and the canopy closing in overhead. The Indian River is the kind of place where the world goes quiet and the wildlife comes to you.

After the tour, settle in at Roy’s place for a meal cooked the way it has always been cooked here — fresh fish from local waters, ground provisions, fruit straight off the tree, cold drinks in the shade.
